Genesis of Man. Part A
Why must people suffer before they enjoy?
Why do Singles have
to wait for so long before being married?
Why do we mostly have to start poor
before being rich?
Why can’t everything just start fine and end fine? Why are
there so many questions but few answers?
These are some of the questions that
filled my heart one Saturday morning as I woke up. I was really
disturbed as to why people always go through challenges and difficulties before
experiencing freedom.
I don’t really
know why it was these questions that woke me up but I just desperately needed
an answer, because I actually looked around and discovered that those thoughts
of mine were not far from the truth.
At a point, I thought it might be the way
God planned life to always play out, but there is another part of me that
refused to believe that opinion because I believed every reaction must have
been initiated by a corresponding action. I felt like having someone to talk to
but no one was available, so I decided to seek for an answer from the Word of
God (Bible), because it was the only available option.
I knew that I could find
an answer from the Bible but I have no idea what page to open, so I decided to
start from the first page (Genesis 1), maybe I will get a direction from God or He will
direct me to where the answer is.
Remember, my
question was ‘Why do most people experience difficulties or rough beginning
before their breakthroughs, i.e. why can’t things just start smooth and end
smooth?’
Genesis 1:1-2
In the beginning
God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth
was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And
the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (KJV)
God created both
the Heaven and the Earth but the Earth was without form. The first question that
suddenly caught my attention was, if God created both the Heaven and the Earth
in vs. 1, how come it was only the Earth that was without form in vs. 2, what
about the Heaven? Does it mean the Heaven took a form immediately or God kept
it aside for another day?
As I was
pondering and meditating on this question, I saw another disturbing question.
God created
the heaven and the Earth, the word created is the past tense of create,
and it is meant to be used when something has been invented, made or built.
So the literal
interpretation of Genesis 1:1 putting our focus on created is that ‘God has
finished the creation of Heaven and the Earth’.
The second big and
striking question was that why would the Bible say God created the Heaven and
the Earth when in reality, He was just about to begin? Why didn’t the bible say
‘God began the creation of Heaven and the Earth’ or ‘God is about to create the
Heaven and the Earth?’ I have no doubt that the Bible was written by men
through direct inspiration from God. My argument is, why would the writer of
Genesis say ‘God created’ when God
was just about to begin? Why was the past tense used in the present?
A perfect
example is saying ‘’The Wright brothers invented the Airplane, and the Airplane
had no tyres, engines, and cannot fly’’. So if they invented an Airplane that
does not have an engine, tyres and cannot fly, that means they have not
invented or created anything, they are simply just in the process or making an
airplane.
I was alone in
the room still lying in bed with the Bible, but I was already getting confused.
I only opened the Bible to search for answers to the question in my head, but
now I have more questions and no single answer. I have read and listened to
people reading Gen 1 vs 1 hundreds of times, but I have never seen or heard
anyone, dead or alive talk about these questions before.
It was very
obvious that God was the one showing me all these questions and I knew at this
point, all I needed to do was ask Him directly and allow Him to direct me
through His Word to get the answers. I took
my note and pen and waited for the answer.
Immediately, God
spoke and He said.......
To be Continued.
