Where Are You Going? Part A

I was going for an interview in Abuja one day, I was already getting late so I stood by the road side to get a car to the venue, with a determination that I won’t enter a bus but a car.
Just as I got to the road, an 18 Seater bus came and was shouting Berger, Nicon junction, Gwarimpa, etc, even though I was going to Nicon junction and the Bus was cheaper by N50 than regular cars, I never moved or gave any sign that I was going to that same direction.

The next car that came was a coaster bus belonging to one of the Ministries in Abuja, very neat, with the passenger’s mostly civil servants going to work. The bus was going towards Secretariat which was also my direction but I ignored likewise. The conductor even came to me and asked if I was going but I shook my head and the bus drove off.

Two or three more 18 Seater buses came afterwards, yet I never moved. The few cars that passed through were all filled up. Just as I was about getting restless, a Toyota Camry drove by and was going towards my direction, immediately I entered the Car.

Why was I determined to enter a car and not a bus? Why was I selecting cars? Why didn’t I enter the buses even though they were going to the same direction and of course cheaper? I have been standing by the road side for long, also where I was going was very important and I am already getting late? Why did I remain adamant? Could it be Pride or lack of seriousness?

The simple reason was because I know exactly where I was going and I know what is at stake. I know what I will lose if I fail to arrive there on time. Lateness to an interview is a very bad way of introduction. Due to this fact, I could not afford to gamble and enter an 18 seater bus or the Coaster bus because the chances are higher that I could get to my destination longer than necessary since the buses were not yet filled at the time. Moreover, the buses would have to park at every junction to pick or drop passengers which makes the journey longer, people would have to stand up when a passenger wants to drop from the back seat which makes the journey very frustrating.  All these facts were put together and I knew that bearing in mind the kind of place I was going to, entering a bus was a No-No.

What is the moral of my story? If you know where you are going in life and what is at stake, you will be careful with the kind of decisions you are making today.
So, my question for today is ‘Where are you going?’

It is very surprising but common today to see many people in this generation of ours moving, waking and sleeping daily but completely have no idea of where they are going to.
The bible said Jesus who for the joy that was set before him ignore the shame and the pain on the cross. This means Jesus kept on focusing on the everlasting joy ahead despite the immediate but temporary pain and shame.

God has created every one of us with a glorious destiny and wonderful future, which means there is a path that we are meant to take if we are to arrive there and succeed in life.

Not every job vacancy is meant for you to apply.  The point is you need to sit down and have a focus; you need to discover where you are meant to be. What field are you particularly good at.
The reason a Nail enter into a wood faster than a hammer is because the nail is more focused. If you don’t sit to discover your purpose or direction in life, you will end up frustrated. What I am saying is there is a place that you have being destined to be, but it is not every vehicle that passes that can get you there.

Bishop David Oyedepo said “To succeed in life, it is very compulsory to know where you are going, what it takes to get there and be willing to give it all it takes”.

Proverbs 22:29
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

A man diligent in his business, with the focus on ‘his business’. God broke this verse down for me some months ago, He said ‘the truth remains whatever a man does diligently, he will surely succeed in it. But the success in this verse is the one that will give you audience in front of kings and to command such, you have to be diligent in your own business, (Seest thou a man diligent in his business?) that is, his Purpose, his assignment on earth.

Dr. Myles Monroe (of blessed memory) said the reason why you are glad every Friday evening when you are leaving the office but frustrated every Monday morning when you are about going to work is because you are trapped in your Job and not your work.

He said, ‘Your work is the assignment God has sent you to do on earth, the one you were born to do’. He added that you can be sacked from your job but you can never be fired from your work. ‘ He said there is an assignment that God has finished that you were born to come and start, and once you discover that assignment, then you have discovered your direction  or purpose on earth.

So, how can you discover that assignment or work that God has for you?
